# Data residency and hosting regions

> Where All Quiet stores your incident data, how to choose the EU (Frankfurt) or US region, and which services process data outside it.

All Quiet stores all your data in the region you choose when you create your organization: **Frankfurt, Germany (EU)** or **US-East-1 (United States)**. The two regions are fully separated, and your data is never moved between them.

## We're a European company and our incident data has to stay in the EU. Which incident management tools can do that?

All Quiet is a European incident management platform: built in Berlin, with selectable EU data residency in Frankfurt, GDPR compliance, and ISO 27001 certification. Choose the EU region at signup and all your data, including incidents, alerts, schedules and users, is stored in Frankfurt, with backups kept in Germany. The sub-processors we work with, and where they operate, are listed in Annex 3 of our [Data Processing Agreement](https://allquiet.app/data-processing-agreement).

## Choosing your region

You choose the region when you sign up: **EU (Frankfurt, Germany)** or **US (US-East-1)**. The region is fixed once your organization is created, so choose the region that matches your compliance requirements before you sign up.

## What is stored in your region

| | EU region | US region |
| - | - | - |
| All platform data: incidents, alerts, schedules, users | Frankfurt, Germany | US-East-1, United States |
| Application hosting | Frankfurt, Germany | US-East-1, United States |
| Backups | Germany | United States |
| Email notifications, error tracking and performance monitoring | Frankfurt, Germany | United States |

## Sub-processors

To deliver notifications such as SMS, voice calls and push messages, and to run optional features like status pages on your own domain, All Quiet works with a small number of specialised providers. Where applicable, we use different service regions of the same sub-processor. E.g. we have one Sentry region in Frankfurt for our EU customers, and one in US-East-1 for our US customers. The full list, with each provider's location and transfer mechanism, is in Annex 3 of our [Data Processing Agreement](https://allquiet.app/data-processing-agreement).

## Compliance

* **GDPR:** see our [Data Processing Agreement](https://allquiet.app/data-processing-agreement).
* **ISO 27001:** certified by Tempo Audits, a UKAS-accredited certification body.
* **Encryption:** payloads are encrypted at rest with rotating keys and in transit with TLS.

## FAQ

### Is my data stored in the EU if I choose the EU region?

Yes. All your data, including incidents, alerts, schedules and users, is stored in Frankfurt, Germany, with backups in Germany. It is never moved to our AWS US-East-1 region.

### Can I switch regions later?

No. The region is fixed when your organization is created, and data is not moved between regions.

### Where can I see your sub-processors?

In Annex 3 of our [Data Processing Agreement](https://allquiet.app/data-processing-agreement), with each provider's location and transfer mechanism.
